Description
Havana was the high selling foal at the Belgian Horses Auction and sold to the United States for her valuable show jumping pedigree. Havana's elastic movement, sensitivity and powerful jump, topped off by her sweet temperament come as no surprise from her Cassini II and Darco bloodlines.
Havana has an incredible sweet temperament with correct conformation, built for power. Her size makes her an ideal candidate to be bred to medium sized or taller stallions and with a well-balanced pedigree with all of the heavy hitters: Capitol I, Cassini II, Darco and Contender, she would cross best with an outcross of French or Belgian blood.

Sire Information
Cassini II, the younger full brother of Cassini I, was approved in Holstein in 1996 with a high jumping index. Unfortunately he was injured when young and did not compete in sport although is now sought after as a sire due to his quality and talented offspring. At his Licensing he achieved high scores for his jumping as well as for his character and temperament. Cassini I & II are sons of the great Capitol I. Capitol I was on the top of the WBFSH (World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses) rankings lists 2000-2001. There are over 25 approved stallions by Capitol in Holstein, for example Dobel's Cento, Carthago Z, Carolus I & II, Calato, Cardento, C-Indoctro, Carano and Clearway as well as the Cassini brothers. Worldwide there are many more approved sons and in Germany alone there are 564 registered sport horses which have won in excess of €5.3 million in prizemoney. Capitol I was a valuable foundation sire in the Holstein stud book.
Cassini II's dam Wisma is by Caletto II who was awarded Champion of his year when he was licensed in Holstein. Caletto II, one of the best sons of Cor de la Bryere has been a significant influence in jumping breeding even though he only stood for 4 years. He is the sire of Classic Touch who took Luger Beerbaum to win gold at the Barcelona Olympics. Wisma also produced the young Holsteiner Verband stallion Clarimo (by Clearway) along with a full sister to Cassini I & II who has produced the licensed stallion Lovari )by Lasino). Another daughter of Wisma, Mira (by Lansing) is the dam of the licensed stallion Cassaro.
Offspring
Cassini II's progeny are modern in type and show great jumping potential. Many of his offspring qualified for the German Championships (Bundeschampionart) in Warendorf in 2005 & 2006. In 2005 one of his numerous licensed sons Camargue was sold for €230,000 to Denmark. In 2007 eight of his sons made the final selection for the stallion licensing and three were licensed. Cassini II produced the best jumping horse of the Elite Riding Horse auction in Neumunster in 2004, Caress, a mare which sold for €105,000 to a well-known sport stable in Germany. Caress under the name of Ophelia, along with Cassius and Centurion are top jumping horses and are amongst many who are proving his worth as a sire of jumping horses.

Damline
Darco won many show jumpingcompetitions in his career such as: Champion of Belgium as a 5 year old. Winner of the Belgian Championship as a 6 year old. Darco was Winner of the Volvo World Cup in London 1988 and in Hertogenbosch in 1989. He was 6th in the World Championships in Stockholm in 1990 and 7th place in the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. Born 1980 Once again, Darco's story, is the story of an exceptional broodmare - in this case, his grand-dam, Atoucha. Born in 1959 in Holland the mare was purchased by Fons Pauwels in 1960. Mr Pauwels was looking for a real "all-rounder", a horse for both work and play. And this she did - working in the fields and in her "spare" time, competing in dressage, showjumping and eventing competitions. She was twice - in 1968 and 1970 - the Belgian Eventing champion for Rural Riders, and three times a competitor at the European Rural Championships. According to her proud owner (and quoted in Leen Devocht's excellent article on Darco in Breeding News, January 1997) her qualities were a legion: "very strong, healthy; not a single day of sickness in her book, an immense capacity for recovering; everlasting carefulness, even as an evente; not a single refusal; always fighting and daring like a lioness - she could eat fences raw." Atoucha gave birth to eleven foals - ten fillies and one colt, Salvador, who went on to win the Berlin puissance. Darco's dam, Ocoucha (by Codex) is the eldest daughter of Atoucha's third daughter, Latoucha (by Faust).
Bred to one of the greatest of Belgian jumping stallions, Lugano van la Roche, Ocoucha produced Darco, who went on to prove himself a tough competitor on the international jumping scene with Ludo Phillippaerts. In 1988, Darco won his first World Cup qualifier, at Olympia, the following year, he won another Volvo for his rider, this time at s'Hertogenbosch.
Darco and Ludo were sixth at the WEG in Stockholm, and 7th at the Barcelona Games.
In the Breeding News article, Ludo has this to say about the stallion: "Together with Darco, I began my international career. A horses to remain grateful to for the rest of my life. Darco really has everything it takes to make a unique super crack, as a showjumper as well as a sire. Horses of this outstanding quality will remain the great exceptions in the breeding industry.
I will never forget the fine intelligence he so often proved in the showjumping arena, where he always showed lots of power and stamina coming from his high-bred ancestors."
Darco
Darco commenced his career as a breeding stallion in 1984, and since then has been enormously successful. In the WBFSH standings for 1999-2000, Darco finished 8th, with 35 (!) progeny contributing to his ranking. His most famous offspring is Otterongo who just missed out on an individual medal at the Sydney Olympic Games. Darco is a rather solid type and cross best over elegant mares with lots of "blood".
