Description

Representative extraordinaire of the Dutch -niki mareline

Ultra Niki represents careful linebreeding at its best by infusing the strong jumping genes of Calvados and Ekstein (through Ulysses M2S) with the phenomenal Dutch mareline -niki twice in  the pedigree. Ekstein is the sire of Olympic competitor Joel and the damsire of Hickstead. Voltaire was ranked #2 in 1996 in the World Breeding Rankings for Show Jumping Sire earning him the Keur and Preferent  predicates. Niki was imported to the US in 2011 where she gave birth to the 2011 KWPN First Premium colt, Grenache S, by Chello III VDL.

In 2012, Ultra-niki was the winner of the 4 & 5 year old in hand class at the Ocala Young Horse Show Qualifier March 13th, 2012.

Ultra-niki's offspring share Niki's friendly temperament, dynamic and powerful movement as well as her award winning conformation.

“The ultimate modern Sport Horse”

  • Closely related to Beijing Olympic Gold Medallist Hickstead!

  • Sire of the International jumper Millfield Ultymate – 2009 Joint Champion of the British 4-Year-Old Young Horse Showjumping Championship; 2010 Vice-Champion British 5-Year-Old Young Horse Showjumping Championship; selected to represent Great Britain at the 2010 and 2011 FEI World Breeding Championship for Young Jumping Horses.

Ulysses M2S is a super example of a modern sporthorse: beautifully engineered, highly athletic, and possessing world-class performance genes. He was Licensed by the Anglo European Studbook in March 2005 after competing against thirty-five of Europe’s best 4 and 5 year-olds at the Zwolle International Stallion Show; in November 2005 he was Approved by the Anglo European Studbook after qualifying for the Dutch Championship for Four-Year-Olds, jumping many double-clear rounds at 1.10 metre, and winning the 1.10 metre Stallion Competition at the Euregio Indoor Denekamp Show in the Netherlands on 25 October 2005.

In 2007 Ulysses M2S competed at the CSI** Show at Valkenwaard (Netherlands) in the International Jumping Competition for 6 & 7 Year Old Horses, and had 2 double clear rounds finishing in 9th place. He is now jumping 1.45m tracks with Belgian Junior rider Rossella de Simone.

Ulysses M2S is very high quality and his temperament is outstanding. He has three excellent gaits and his conformation is exceptional. As a showjumper Ulysses has very good technique both in front and behind and he uses his back very well. He descends from outstanding families on both sides of his bloodline.

Ulysses’s sire Ekstein is approved by the KWPN and Irish Horse Board and he was Champion of the Stallion Performance Test and Champion 7-year-old showjumper. Ekstein`s most famous son is the Olympic competitor Joel and his most famous grand-son is Eric Lamaze`s Olympic Gold Medal Winner Hickstead.

Damline Information

Calvados is bred from the best French performance bloodlines. He is bred to produce sport horses and is the product of some of the most well-established  bloodlines of show jumping. His sire Uriel has been leading sire for several years (index 211, the highest index figure ever in France). Uriel contributed to French breeding through 26 sons and he produced more than 100 international showjumpers!! His dam Gold Rose (index 186!) was a 3 year old French  Conformation Champion and on the French Showjumping Team from 1979 until 1982,  during which time she won, inter alia, the Grand Prix of Paris and Madrid and  came second in Lisbon, Barcelona and Hamburg. Although Calvados has bred on a very limited scale, he has many international offspring jumping at Grand Prix and World Cup levels. The jumping index of Calvados is extremely high with 152 points. Calvados produced the highest percentage of star mares in 2003.

Ushiniki is a half-sister of the KWPN sire Ekstein and the last progeny of the great mare Zaniki, a grand-daughter of the legendary Niki, for whom one of Holland's most distinguished marelines is named.

Ultra Niki comes from the extremely successful niki-stam lineage mareline 11.  Ushiniki's dam, Zaniki is a full-sister to the
international showjumper  Palfrenier and she herself produced national champion showjumpers, a KWPN  stallion champion, and international showjumpers. Zaniki's sire Joost represents an excellent stamm (no. 242) as well as the bloodlines of his renow sire Consul. Joost carried the blood of Thoroughbred foundation sires Cottage Son xx and Anblick xx on both sides of his pedigree, making him a modern stallion. He himself even excelled as a show jumper with Franke Sloothaak.

Aniki, is half-sister to Nick Skelton's Apollo, twice winner of the Aachen Grand Prix.  Individual Bronze Medalist at the World Championship, Individual Bronze Medal at  the European Championship, and twice European Championship Team Gold Medalist.  The Niki line is represented in the United States by such greats as the Iron Spring Farm stallions Consul and Judgement. In Holland, the lineage 1907- the "Sineada lineage" produced stallions such as Consul and Colino and also World Cup Champion Anka ridden by Markus Ehning. *Click here to read more about the Niki mareline.

Ushiniki's grand dam Aniki the half-sister to Apollo (twice winner of Aachen  Grand Prix, Individual Bronze Medallist at the World Championship, Individual  Bronze Medallist & twice Team Gold Medallist at the at the European  Championships).

Nick Skelton's Apollo (-Niki Line) 1988 Hickstead Derby

Aniki's daughters & grand-daughters have produced the sires Ekstein, Consul & Equador, the International Jumpers Nebraska, Promise Me & Galveston, & the International Dressage horses Consul, Hercules, Feliki & Fellini

Kassander's damsire the Preferent Gröninger stallion Sinaeda, was one of the foundation sires of the modern Dutch sporthorse. Sinaeda produced 14 approved sons for the NWP and two for the VLN. The full brothers Senner and Sportman (out  of Ritta by Tello) were the most valuable for the breed. Lineages rooted in a  Sinaeda-, Senner- or Sportman daughter are still expensive assets.” And they could jump. American rider, Armand Leone finished 11th at the 1985 World Cup  Finals in Berlin, riding Jonker, a fifteen year old gelding by Sportman, out of  Tondria by Senator by Camillo. No Mercy, the silver medalist at the 2005 European Championships, is by Libero H but out of a mare by Dillenburg - and Dillenburg is out of a mare by Naturel by Lucky Boy out of a mare by the Sinaeda  son, Sportman.
