About

Sakura Hill Farm is a breeding, training and sales stable located in Gainesville, FL. Our goal is to produce and develop International Caliber Show Jumpers, Eventers and A-circuit Hunters. We strive to support up and coming young riders and young professionals in the Hunter, Jumper and Eventing worlds by providing top quality prospects at reasonable prices through our Competition Partnership Programs and Young Horse Incentive Program.

"We breed to stallions dreams are made of, and have the mares to make those dreams reality."

"Stallions dreams are made of"  because we comb the world, looking for outstanding pedigrees, performance records, approval results, and progeny all the while learning from reading and talking with our European and American mentors.

"Mares to make those dreams a reality" because our mares and the marelines they represent are the keystone of our breeding program and have been carefully chosen not only as future sport horses themselves but also with the ability to reproduce sport horses of the highest caliber. They are selected with the advice and assistance of renowned breeders in Europe and North America, and represent the best European bloodlines.

We intend to remain small, with only a few foals born each year. The outstanding equine medical facilities in the area guarantee state-of-the-art veterinary care for our mares and foals. Access to the top trainers and competition venues in Ocala and Wellington ensure that our horses are started and developed correctly.

The trips to Florida for the Winter circuits planted a seed in the mind of the Sakurai family...why not settle in Florida following retirement from the United Nations for Michele and graduation from High School for Monica (Makoto having already retired from Mitsubishi) and establish a breeding farm to produce outstanding Warmblood competition horses for the A-circuits and international competition from world-class European bloodlines? Michele could be occupied with researching bloodlines, making contacts in the breeding world and generally taking charge of the breeding facet of the operation, Makoto could be responsible for the business and maintenance end of the business and Monica could start the horses and get them out in competition using trainers from the Ocala and Wellington areas as appropriate. The dream began to take shape in February, 2005, with the purchase of outstanding mares and fillies in Europe from celebrated performance-producing marelines during and after a buying trip to Europe. Sakura Hill Farm itself was purchased in June, 2005, and the work of turning a beautiful home and land into a fully-functioning horse breeding and training facility began and continues.

The dream of producing equine athletes with the pedigree and talent for high level international competition that are started properly and are competing has become reality.
